CO | The purpose of this notice is to advise Colorado licensed surplus lines agents and direct procurement filers that effective January 1, 2025, the Colorado Division of Insurance will adopt the Surplus Lines Information Portal (SLIP) for the reporting and payment of Colorado surplus lines premium taxes in accordance with § 10-5-111 and amended Colorado Regulation 2-4-1 effective January 1, 2025.
All policies, and endorsements on policies, effective on or after January 1, 2025, shall be reported to the Colorado Division of Insurance using the SLIP platform: https://slip.slasclearinghouse.com. Policies, or endorsements on policies, effective prior to January 1, 2025 should continue to be reported to the Colorado Division of Insurance using the Colorado Surplus Lines Tax System.
The Colorado Division of Insurance is working with the SLAS team to finalize the implementation details, and a follow up notice will be distributed with specific instructions when the go-live date has been confirmed.
A 3% Colorado premium tax and 0.175% transaction fee will be assessed on each transaction. The transaction fee is refundable on returned premiums pro rata. Taxes and transaction fees shall be paid in SLIP via ACH Debit.
